Within the Employee Portal, employees can access the Equity section, which provides a vesting schedule, equity grant information, equity scenarios, and equity 101. For additional information on equity terms and definitions, see Startup Equity Fundamentals.

Note: Only those with the “Owner” permission or those who have been assigned to a permission group with the “Company Settings” permission are able make changes to the Employee Portal. For more information, see Permission Groups.

To utilize the Equity section:

  1. Navigate to this section by scrolling down or clicking Equity on the left-hand side.

  2. The employer is able to provide a general description under the Equity heading.

  3. The top-level amount is based on Today’s Share Value x Total Granted Shares.

  4. The Vesting schedule for all your grants chart combines all of the employee’s grants and shows where they are within their vesting schedule. Hover over this chart as needed to view the employee’s grant information, such as the the month and year, amount, and percentage.

  5. Within the Equity Grants section:

    1. The employee can view the following information as available: the name of the plan their grant falls under, the Granted date, the Cliff date, the date Vesting ends, the number of shares they’ve been granted for the specific grant, the Approx Value, the Strike Price, the Total Vested amount, and the Total Exercised amount. Additionally, the employee can view where they are in the vesting schedule and if they’ve exercised any of their options.

      Note: Employers with certain permissions can upload this information via a Carta integration or CSV import here. The Carta integration allows information to be automatically updated in the Employee Portal as updates are made in Carta. When using a CSV, manual updates are required. Additionally, Agora supports spreadsheets for grant imports, such as Google Sheets and Excel. The employee can find details on the formats that are supported within each column of the spreadsheet or CSV in the equity_grant template.

    2. Hover over this chart as needed to view the employee’s grant information, such as the month and year, amount, and percentage.

Equity Scenarios

Equity scenarios are available purely for modeling purposes. The employee is able to play around with the scenarios to get a sense of the value of their equity if their company grows. For more information on equity scenarios, see Configuring Your Equity Settings.

To utilize the Equity Scenarios section:

  1. Navigate to this section by scrolling down or clicking Equity Scenarios on the left-hand side.

  2. To utilize the Company Growth chart:

  3. Adjust the information displayed by selecting a relevant top-level filter, adjusting applicable fields as needed, and selecting either Company Share Value or Company Valuation. This information is preset by the employer.

    Note: Admins with certain permissions are able to set the equity growth settings here.

    b. Hover over an orange dot to view the associated equity information, such as the date, event, and valuation amount or preferred price, depending on your filter selections.

    Equity 101

The Equity 101 section provides additional fundamental information regarding equity, such as definitions for Preferred price, Fair market value, and Exercise window, as well as a variety of FAQs. For more information on equity, see Configuring Your Equity Settings.

To utilize the Equity 101 section:

  1. Navigate to this section by scrolling down or clicking Equity 101 on the left-hand side.

  2. Review the definitions and/or available FAQs, using the carrot icons to expand or minimize as needed.
